vom Muzeum Auschwitz: „16 April 1947 | A few minutes after 10 a.m. Rudolf Höss, the founder and the first commandant of the German Nazi Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp was executed.
The execution was carried out at the site of the former Auschwitz I camp – the gallows stood at the remains of the camp Gestapo building, right next to the first crematorium of Auschwitz and 100 meters from the villa where he had lived.
